The past few years have seen this Southern gal pushed out of her comfort zone in Executive Administration to begin a ministry to the poor and hurting in her community. Just as the door on her dream ministry began to open, the plan changed yet again, and the Herod family moved homes and states and worlds away in pursuit of a much-prayed for work opportunity.
Dedra encourages readers to seek God in whatever their adventure, in the pages of scripture and the plans God is breathing to existence in their lives. By honestly unpacking the reality of her own spiritual journey – the good and the ugly of faith, family, surrender, and struggle – she hopes to come alongside readers in intentional obedience in every season of life.
Previous master-plans allowed Dedra to serve on many conference leadership teams: behind-the-scenes at Blissdom 2012, in the role of Speaker Coordinator at Blissdom 2013, Workshop presenter and panelist at dotMom 2011 & 2012, and Event Planner for the 2014 Allume Conference. She held various ministry positions at Asbury UMC in Madison, AL, from 2001 until 2013. She currently serves as the Prayer Ministry Lay Leader at Covenant UMC in Greer, SC. She’s also a freelance writer with recent clients : LifeWay’s Parenting Teen Magazine
Dedra directs CLA’s annual Outcomes Conference, Exhibitor Partnerships along with CLA events. She has served CLA as conference event planner, including as keynote producer for the 2015 Outcomes Conference. She joined the CLA staff full-time in July 2015 after owning her own consulting firm for two years. Dedra received her CCNL designation in April 2016.
While even she couldn’t have planned for the recent twists and turns in her life, Dedra does appreciate the irony in what her big and gracious God does with the best laid plans of her own hands. She’d love to have you join her in the unpacking.
